This help article is design to help you setup and get the most out of our latest PayPal integration.

Setup

There are two different setup flows for our new PayPal integration, one for business PayPal accounts and one for personal PayPal accounts. We advise using a business PayPal account as it will give you access to a lot more features, including; automated dispute responses, saved player payment methods and billing agreements.

Business Account Setup

  1. Go to the Payment Gateway Selection page.
  2. Click Setup Gateway against the PayPal gateway.
  3. Click the button which reads Login With PayPal. This will display a mini browser prompting you to login.
  4. Login to your business PayPal account within the mini browser and proceed with the PayPal flow.
  5. After completing the PayPal flow your payment gateway within Tebex will automatically be setup.
  6. Follow the configuration steps in the section below to customise the gateway and enable or disable certain features.

Personal Account Setup

  1. Go to the Payment Gateway Selection page.
  2. Click Setup Gateway against the PayPal gateway.
  3. Click on the small text link shown below.
  4. Enter your personal PayPal account's email address in the modal.
  5. Follow the configuration steps in the section below to customise the gateway and enable or disable certain features.

Configuration

We provide you with many different configuration options for our PayPal integration, though most are restricted to business PayPal accounts.

Payment Preferences (Personal Accounts)

PayPal Email - The email address of your personal PayPal account.
Checkout Language - The default language that will be shown to the player when they're redirected to PayPal from your webstore.
Require Shipping - Whether or not to require an address from players.

Checkout Configuration (Business Accounts)

Colour - The colour of the PayPal button(s) on your webstore's checkout page.
Size - The size of the PayPal button(s) on your checkout page.
Alternative Payment Methods - Which PayPal payment methods you'd like to accept on your webstore.
Save Payment Details - Should players be able to save their payment method for faster future purchases (requires the player to be logged in to your webstore with a verified Tebex profile).

Dispute Options (Business Accounts)

Automatically Provide Evidence - Should we respond to disputes raised by players automatically. See below for additional information about dispute handling.
Response Message - A brief message which is included in our automatic responses to disputes (if above is enabled). We advise including the following in this message.

  • Some details about your game server.
  • Why players make purchases on your webstore (for example they'll receive in-game perks).
  • A link to your webstore's terms and conditions.
  • An explanation how purchased packages as automatically granted to the player.

Dispute Handling

If you have a business PayPal account then we have the ability to automatically respond to disputes raised by players. You can enable, or disable, this feature by editing the payment gateway (see the Configuration section above).

When a dispute is initially raised, we'll send a message via PayPal to the player containing the following information (where applicable).

  • The brief response message you've defined (see the Configuration section above).
  • Proof of any commands that have executed.
  • Proof of any previous payments that the player has made using the same IP.
  • Proof of any previous payments the player has made using a different IP but with a matching name, address or email.
  • When the player last logged into the server (if you have Statscraft linked to your webstore).

If the player then proceeds to escalate the dispute with PayPal then we'll automatically provide a PDF document containing the above evidence (where applicable) to PayPal on behalf of you.
